Spring project criteria
For your final assessment you will work in teams to conduct research on a folklorico region and prepare at least two contrasting dance pieces to be presented in our May 4th theater show. Below is the list of teams for 1st & 2nd period:

All team members are expected to equally contribute toward the final product of this project. Some guidelines to consider while collaborating with your team include:
- Equity of voice
- Appropriate use of technology

Criteria
Use the criteria below as you complete this project to ensure you able to maximize your success:
Research:
Be sure to keep track of your souces as you conduct your research. You will submit a works cited page with your final project.
Dance:
You will be expected collaborate with your team to apply the information found in your research toward the development of at least two original dance pieces (you may create more than 2).

Be sure to keep track of videos you are using as inspiration. You will be responsible for providing me with a copy of the links so that I may understand your piece and the intentions behind it.
Research:
- Geography (climate, scenery, animals, location)
- Contries who invaded or migrated to this area (overseas). What impact did these people have on costuming, music, dance style or religious beliefs?
- Indigenous civilizations native to the area. What impact did these people have on costuming, music, dance style or religious beliefs?
- Folk tale(s) specific to the region
- Music style and instrumentation. Are there multiple styles?
- Costuming and attire. Are tyere multiple styles? What do the costume(s) represent?
- Footwork and dance style(s)

Dance:
You will be expected collaborate with your team to apply the information found in your research toward the development of at least two original dance pieces (you may create more than 2).
These pieces should...
- Be contrasting in style and origin (ie. If the region is Puebla you might choreograph one dance to represent the Mexican Folklorico style of the region and one Indonesian inspired piece to represent those who migrated to the area)
- In total equate to an 7-9 minute suite
- Be a collaboration among all team members
- Be unique choreography developed by you, not previously learned or copied from a video
- Make use of at least 1 prop. (If you would like, you may make new hair pieces in lieu of creating a prop)
